Botox, also known as botulinum toxin , is a protein used in aesthetic medicine to paralyze the facial muscles and reduce fine lines. It has become the number one rejuvenation treatment in the world for its minimally invasive characteristics and its very natural result.
Botulinum toxin is a substance produced by a bacterium, Clostridium botulinum. The one used for aesthetic purposes is called Type A and is carefully purified in the production process of the product, which makes it absolutely safe for health. The treatment is done by a doctor who specializes in aesthetic medicine , it is a fast outpatient treatment since it takes about 30 minutes.
The procedure is not painful but if necessary, the doctor may decide to apply a topical anesthetic product, cryotherapy or local cold so that the patient does not feel the inconvenience of the punctures. Subsequently, with very fine needles for intramuscular injections (30G), botulinum will be injected in the areas to be treated, previously identified by the doctor.
After the procedure, only these simple recommendations should be followed:
- Do not sleep until 3 hours have passed since the completion of the treatment
- Avoid exposure to sunlight or UVA rays
- Avoid energetically massaging the treated area for at least 48 hours to avoid the migration of toxins in other areas.
To act correctly, the toxin needs 3 to 4 days , so it is normal not to notice any difference at the end of the treatment.
